A well balanced blend for optimum fertility. Similar to the Cool Season Mix but with an addition of Vetch for extra nitrogen fixing qualities and added biomass.  Growing a cover crop (aka Green Manure) is a wonderful way to build soil organic matter, protect the soil against erosion, fix nitrogen, provide habitat for beneficial insects & pollinators and so much more! We typically plant cool season cover crops after harvesting the last of the summer garden which is typically in October here in Oregon. Alternately, they can be planted as early in late winter or early spring as possible.   This mixture of cool season varieties is a proven mix that we use here on our farm and in gardens. The cereal grain sprout quickly and provide a vertical scaffold for the peas and vetch to climb. The peas sprout quickly and provides fast growth and coverage and abundant nitrogen fixation. A cereal grain and legume mix can grow from 2 to 5 tons (!!!) of biomass per acre, that's 40-100 pounds for a 100 square foot area. Compostion: Organic Triticale VNS 35%, Organic Barley ‘Lavina’ 10%, Organic Common Vetch, coated & inoculated 20%, Organic Austrian Winter Peas 20%, Organic Crimson Clover, coated & inoculated 5%  Size: 1lb...

Pollinator Mix, Annual Late Season   Pollinators are a key cornerstone of a thriving, healthy ecosystem in your garden.  Not only do they help to pollinate the fruiting vegetables, but often the adult stage of many beneficial insects like Ladybugs and Green Lacewings that feed upon nectar (while their larvae stage is insectivorous).  Plant a multi-species Garden Ecology! This mix is intended to plant later in the season such as sunflowers, zinnia, cosmos, marigolds, cilantro, cosmos, and buckwheat. It tends to grow fairly tall (up to 6' plus), so consider this when deciding where to plant. This provides a late nectar flow, which is particularly helpful to pollinators and beneficial insects in the arid west where there is little flowering in the un-irrigated wild lands. (Exact mix may vary)....

Pollinator Mix, Perennial Pollinators are a key cornerstone of a thriving, healthy ecosystem in your garden.  Not only do they help to pollinate the fruiting vegetables, but often the adult stage of many beneficial insects like Ladybugs and Green Lacewings that feed upon nectar (while their larvae stage is insectivorous). Plant a multi-species Garden Ecology! This mix includes the following species: Hyssop, Licorice Mint, Parsnip (self seeding biennial) Poppies (not a perennial but they naturalize and self-seed very well). This mix is a good choice if you have an area that you are able to prepare the soil well and allow it to become established over the years. It will provide a steady stream of nectar and pollen over the entire season- feeding and sheltering pollinators. This mix requires diligence and patience to establish, as many of the seeds are quite small. (Exact mix may vary). SSF Packet 4g Bulk:1oz...
